Harbeson, Beckerleg & Fletcher has been a prominent member of the First Coast business community been since 1976. The firm offers a full range of quality services that includes a full range of accounting services (audits, reviews, compilations, and nontraditional engagements) for small businesses and tax services for individuals, corporations, partnership, and estates and trusts. The partners have extensive professional experience with a wide variety of industries and clients. This experience includes over twenty-five years of practice with "Big 4 " accounting firms.
The firm was formed as a full service alternative to the "Big 4" accounting firms and the tax and write-up oriented local firms. In other words, "Big 4" services and quality at a reasonable price. Its commitment to quality includes membership in the Private Company Practice (PCPS) and the SEC Practice (SECPS) sections of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). We recently completed our third triennial quality review in August 2000, receiving an unmodified opinion.
Compensation for our services is only on a “fee for service” basis. We do not sell products or participate in fee sharing arrangements with financial services professionals.
Harbeson, Beckerleg & Fletcher was formed to provide the following:
Economy Operation:
A watchword of Harbeson, Beckerleg & Fletcher is economy. Operation of an efficient and economical organization enables us to minimize operating expenses and pass the savings on to our clients. Some of the factors that enable us to minimize costs include: elimination of "national office" overhead and administration, utilization of office space that is convenient and attractive but not lavish and publication and distribution of booklets, newsletters, periodicals, etc. principally to inform clients of regulatory and business environment changes.
Quality Control:
Harbeson, Beckerleg & Fletcher adopted a system of quality controls to insure our professional staff's compliance with auditing and tax standards. This system encompasses many factors, which include independence, hiring, assignment of qualified personnel, supervision, professional development, promotion, review and acceptance of clients, and internal inspection. Our membership in the PCPS and SECPS sections of the AICPA requires that we periodically submit to outside quality review. As mentioned before, we recently completed our triennial quality review in August 2000 and we received an unqualified opinion.
Experienced Staff:
The members of the firm are generally more experienced than those of the national firms. Our staff's experience in public accounting, excluding the partners, ranges up to ten years and averages about six years. Several of our staff members have additional experience in industry. We do not routinely rotate personnel. Limitation of our activities primarily to Florida provides assurance that clients will have their work performed by a supervisory staff that is permanent.
Outstanding Tax Service:
We have the capability and experience to render a wide range of tax services. In addition to the preparation of income tax returns, these services include financial planning, estate planning, preparation of requests for rulings or technical advice, assistance with and representation before taxing authorities and tax planning consultations.
